The Power of Hypochlorous Acid: A Game-Changer for Skin Health.

Ever heard of Hypochlorous Acid? I know, the name doesn't exactly scream "skin-friendly." But trust me, this stuff could be a game-changer for managing chronic skin conditions like eczema, psoriasis, and acne.

So, what exactly is it? Hypochlorous acid is a natural substance produced by our bodies white blood cells, all humans and all mammals have it! It is our built-in defence mechanism against pesky invaders like viruses, bacteria, and infections. This superhero acid works by zapping those bad guys and breaking down their cell walls, ultimately sending them packing.

Thanks to modern science, we've figured out how to produce this powerful substance in large quantities. By combining non-iodinated salt and water followed by electrolysis, we can harness its antimicrobial and anti-inflammatory properties. A little fun fact for you, hypochlorous acid is estimated to be a whopping 100x more potent than bleach when it comes to fighting bacteria!

But here's the catch: While it's a skin-saving superhero, it's essential to use it properly. When undiluted, it can be too strong and may cause irritation. That's why it's crucial to opt for a properly formulated product rather than trying to DIY it. (A quick side note, while it is very safe to use, it is advisable to use a product that has no fragrance to avoid further irritation.)

While most skin conditions stem from a root cause that goes deeper than the skin itself, often found in the gut, dealing with skin conditions from an external point of view can be tricky and often frustrating.  With our skin being our bodies largest organ and first line of defence against pathogens, it is already on high alert when we are experiencing inflammation, many find they react even further to anything applied topically and this is where hypochlorous acid can be very beneficial.  By spraying a light mist on the affected areas, we can help the body to heal and repair, and combat inflammation caused by such conditions. And the chances of reacting to it are quite low, when we recall the fact that it is a substance we naturally produce.

While I personally started using it to tackle pesky underarm itchiness, I soon discovered its versatility! If you're dealing with skin conditions like eczema or acne, which tend to harbour more bacteria, it can lead to a higher risk and rate of infection, hypochlorous acid could be your new BFF. As it works by breaking up those bacteria on the skin, which can lead to fewer flare-ups and smoother, happier skin. And here's the best part: It's gentle enough for sensitive skin, won't dry you out like alcohol-based products, and shouldn't lead to resistance like some medications might, due to it being a substance naturally produced by our bodies.

Coming back to the underarm itch - ever wondered why it's such a common problem?  Well, our underarms are basically bacteria's favourite hangout spot. Full of sweat glands, not only are we excreting toxins that are built up in our systems, but we also have dead skin cells, bacteria and fungus who simply love the environment our armpits provide, it's like a five-star resort for them.  A common cause of itchy armpits can be blamed on the fungus, Candida.  We all have Candida living inside us, but when we develop an overgrowth is when things start to go a little haywire and promising research has found hypochlorous acid to be effective in combating Candida. Signs that your underarm itch is being caused by candida include a bright red rash in the skin folds of the armpits and it is usually very itchy. You may feel a burning sensation and have small pimple like spots.  People with weakened immune systems, are overweight, using antibiotics, undergoing chemotherapy or are pregnant may have an increased risks of candida overgrowth.

Since discovering this product, I have been testing it all over my body, especially on those pesky eczema flare-ups, and I'm thrilled to report that it's been a game-changer. My skin is healing faster, I'm less itchy, and the redness is fading away.

I've spent years searching for non-toxic, non-pharmaceutical solutions for my skin, and let me tell you – this stuff is gold. It's a natural, effective way to manage symptoms and support healing from the outside in.

While I absolutely believe that to treat and cure skin conditions we must go much deeper than just the skin itself, I also believe having something natural, that can relieve your symptoms, and encourages healing from an external point of view is very welcome and essential in the fight against these chronic conditions.
